Previously, he was a Local Authority Health Safety and Emergency Planning Officer responsible for producing and maintaining major emergency response and activation plans and associated emergency management. Emergency planning should aim where possible to prevent emergencies occurring, and when they do occur, good planning should reduce, control or mitigate the effects of the emergency. Building Regs and CDM Legislation Update Our two speakers will give an overview of recent legislative changes within the construction industry. Mark Hillier is Associate Director of the Built Environment at Workplace Law Group. He has 20 years experience in Building Control, both in Local Authority and in private practice. He will explain when the CDM Regulations apply and why you need to appoint these roles, when this role should be outsourced, how to chose competent people, what support you should expect from your PC and CDMC from project start to final handover. This session will cover the legal duties of a PC and CDMC under the CDM Regulations as well as practical advice of what to check at key stages through your project and which duties you retain.
