& Safety, and Environment team at PRP that undertakes CDM

responsibilities, fire safety and environmental assessments on

construction sites.

What is a typical day’s work for you?

I spend the majority of my time attending clients design / project meeting

and on construction sites evaluating the Construction H&S Plans on a

review Fire Risk assessments for the residential and commercial market

I had previously had been a member of the Thames Valley H&S Group for

about 3 years and as my role is now working within London I transfer to

the LH&SG about a year ago.

What benefits do you feel that the Group bring for you?

I was one of the founding member of the IOSH Communication & Media

events for the members. I believe by serving on the committee I can bring

a wealth of health & safety skills, knowledge and experience to the group

What do you find the most interesting part of your role within

the Group?

One of the main benefit of the LH&SG is the opportunity to network and

to be able to tap in to the H&S experience within the group and this is an

area I would like to develop within the group.

 What presents the most challenges?

Within the construction industry it is the taking ownership of the H&S

responsibility within the management teams on site.

What’s your health and safety ‘soap-box’ subject?

The ability to undertake a successful risk assessment as part of any task. What is your one piece of advice for a practicing safety professional?

Good communication at the right time.

One piece of advice for someone thinking of becoming a health and safety professional?

The appropriate skills, knowledge, qualifications for your chosen role.

Finally something personal about you not related at all to h&s or your day job e.g.. Played Rugby for England / Dated Jude Law before he became famous.
