What do you do for your day job?

I am an architect, past CDM-C since 2008 and now a principal designer. I am also the managing partner of Geoff  Beardsley & Partners (UK) LLP responsible for the daily running and communications of the practice, business development and compliance.

What is a typical day’s work for you?

Packed with many far ranging and different tasks both in the architectural and health and safety world. No two days are the same.

How did you become a member of the London Safety Group committee?

I was introduced to LHSG by Abi Piper having met at a Working at Height conference in 2008. She was very friendly and made an effort to keep in contact and invite me to my first meeting when we were based at the City Marketing Suite at the Guildhall. The rest is history!

What benefits do you feel that the Group bring for you?

Access to a wide ranging source of knowledge and friendly people with this knowledge.

What do you find the most interesting part of your role within the Group?

The quality and friendliness of the membership – much more so than a stuffy bunch of architects!

What presents the most challenges?

Keeping up to date with peoples varied and bizaree membership and payment requests in wanting to provide an efficient, workable and friendly service in my role as membership secretary.

What’s your health and safety ‘soap-box’ subject?

Not enough is apparently able to be left to good ol’ Common Sense

What is your one piece of advice for a practising safety professional?

Keep current and never think you can ever know everything

One piece of advice for someone thinking of becoming a health and safety professional?

Go for it, it is such a broad professional domain

Finally something personal about you not related at all to h&s or your day job  e.g.. Played Rugby for England / Dated Jude Law before he became famous. No porkeys please and if you have a photo all the better!

Being the mother and stepmother of 6 children. I sketch as a hobby and help in my local community with various charity work. I am also a past marathon runner (4 of them, 3 being London) and about to do the Moon Walk in mid-May which is a night-time walking marathon
